History
Prior to its formation in 1999, the solution that today comprises Biomni was developed and proven within the eCommerce units of Computacenter plc and Dealogic Ltd. (now plc), respectively. Throughout the 1990s, these commonly owned entities combined their technology and market awareness to evolve a commerce capability that helped fuel their noteworthy growth. By 1999, the technology that emerged from this partnership had been successfully deployed in over 300 unique corporate and governmental institutions, making it one of the largest European IT commerce hubs - even before the commercialization of the Internet.
The Beginning
In late 1999, the common shareholders of Computacenter and Dealogic elected to form Biomni as a joint venture, to enable further growth as an independent entity. This, in turn, set the stage for Biomni to gradually shift its focus from conventional “e-procurement” to what is today provided as end-to-end Request Management. The e-procurement capabilities remain, but they simply represent one of the many Request Types supported.
Ironically, the foundation for our expanded vision is largely attributed to having evolved our technology within the walls of a Managed Service Provider. Computacenter continues to be an outstanding example of how a service provider can both control costs and achieve improved service levels by providing a complete self-service interface for requesting not only products and services, but sophisticated infrastructure processes such “New Employee Start” and “Employee Move/IMAC”.
Request Management from a service provider perspective poses unique challenges across Viewing, Measuring, and Controlling requests because all of this must not only be managed across multiple end-customers, but also integrate with multiple fulfillment systems and suppliers - the combination of which can be unique across each engagement. And most importantly, all of this must be deliverable with minimal cost and maximum simplicity in order to remain competitive.
At Present
Today, Biomni is strategically placed within the solution portfolios of leading global service providers including Unisys Corporation, EDS, Dell, and continues to play a vital role within the Computacenter managed service offering. The combination of our pedigree, present day strategic relationships, and our market focus has enabled continued innovation most recently reflected in our newly developed Connecta, the first of its kind Management Console that enables powerful multi-customer SLA monitoring independently of the source of a request, and independently of the combination of fulfillment system and/or suppliers that fulfill a request.
